Head of Scientific Applications

The role

We are building AI systems that can carry out scientific research. Your job is to find and lead valuable computational programs grounded in real industry demand. Our initial focus is molecular discovery, particularly drug discovery, with potential to expand into materials science.

You will develop opportunities through relationships with scientific leads and R&D teams, understand their workflows, and define programs with clear baselines and success criteria. You will lead them from retrospective evaluation through prospective work and experimental feedback.

This role combines scientific leadership with relationship-led business development. You will open doors and turn promising scientific problems into paid engagements. The founders will work with you on pricing and contracts. You will also lead delivery and help build the scientific applications team.

What you will do

• Develop opportunities through industry relationships and targeted outreach to scientific leaders and R&D decision makers.
• Turn ambiguous needs into programs with clear baselines, deliverables, success criteria, and experimental follow up.
• Help move opportunities from initial conversations to proposals and paid engagements.
• Lead scientific delivery, build workflows, and evaluate results against credible baselines and experimental evidence with the engineering team.
• Turn successful pilots into ongoing relationships and reusable product capabilities.

What we are looking for

You should combine scientific depth with commercial initiative and enjoy turning industry relationships into useful contracts.

Strong candidates will bring:

• Relationships with scientific leaders and R&D decision makers, and a willingness to use them to start conversations.
• Experience turning initial discussions into scoped pilots, collaborations, or scientific software deployments.
• Deep applied expertise in at least one relevant area, such as computational chemistry, molecular modeling, structure-based drug design, protein design, structural biology, or molecular simulation.
• Hands-on ability with Python and scientific software.
• Strong judgment about feasibility, evaluation, and what is required to deliver a useful result.

A PhD or equivalent applied experience is preferred. Experience originating paid collaborations and working with AI agents are valuable. A sales background or contract closing record is not required. This is primarily a scientific leadership role.
